Description:
- A 360° photographic quality virtual reality project to present and describe narratives in archaeology and cultural heritage.

- Merging historical documents including old photographs, movies, audio assets and other material in an interesting way and demonstrating the potential for their use within interactive panoramas. These could be presented to archaeologists or historians as an example to visualise how a location or building looked in the past.

- Developing interactive spherical panoramas in conjunction with 3D modelling techniques to enable ‘fly-through’ navigation of a particular scene that would support, for example, those who work on heritage documentation. This would be achieved by reconstruction of a location using historical photographs and information from the remaining buildings or parts thereof.

- Historical narratives could be based on location and information gathered from local historians, individuals and communities, archive material and historical video images from these locations. This application of multimedia visualisation could encourage local people to imagine how familiar places looked in the past. Modern narratives could improve the understanding of the location where people live.
Further Information
Projects planned and under development:
- Measuring techniques using panoramic imaging as a method for accurate location placement and dimensioning of artefacts and structures.
- Discovering new applications for video panoramas and the manner by which they are projected so that people watching such 360-degree performance could feel that they are immersed in the place of presentation.
- Placing 3D objects scanned by 3D Laser Scanner in panoramic immersive environments.
